Downtown San Jose was full of energy for the Gaslight Anthem’s appearance in Plaza de Cesar Chavez as a part of the Music In The Park series. When they began, their music could be heard for blocks. They played a set of newer songs from their recent album American Slang as well as plenty of classic hits from the earlier days of Sink or Swim and ’59 Sound.
End Notes: The lighting for this show consisted of mostly natural light with a touch of color from the 8 or so can lights on each side of the stage which did not change color. This made for a rather natural look with some accented colors. I used the K20d with the 18-200mm for wider shots and the 50mm f/1.4 for tighter shots and the 70-200mm f/2.8 until I decided such a long lens was not necessary. I shot the first 3 songs which gave me exactly ten minutes.
